Jupiter: the
closest image to Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system
NASA's Juno mission has sent images of one of Jupiter's four moons, Ganymede. It is the largest natural planet in the solar system and the largest moon.
These pictures were taken from a distance of about a thousand
kilometers.
This is the first time in more than 20 years that a spacecraft has
come so close to Ganymede.
This was a great opportunity for the Juno Mission. Its goals
include research on Jupiter. But the European Space Agency will soon send a
special mission here.
Jupiter will pass close to the two Galilean moons of Jupiter's IC
Moon Explorer or Jupiter (Callisto and Europa). It will then enter the orbit of
Ganymede. The mission is expected in 2032.
Images from Venus show this large moon in great detail. It can be
seen in these pictures that there are cracks on the surface of Ganymede.
These images will be compared to images from NASA's missions
Galileo (1995 to 2003) and Voyager (1979) to see what changes have taken place
in Ganymede over time. Also read
