Death of Pakistani-born family in Canada and debate on Islamophobia: "Do we have to think before we go for a walk in hijab and shalwar kameez?"
The killing of four members of a
Pakistani-origin Muslim family in Canada as part of a "deliberate
plot" has once again sparked debate over "Islamophobia", with
most social media users claiming that the September 11 attacks But in the true
sense of the word, Islamophobia is on the rise in Western societies.
Despite Canadian Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau's tweet that "there is no place for Islamophobia in Canada",
the recent incident has once again rekindled the feeling among Muslims in
Pakistan and other parts of the world Islamophobia has increased.
While many consumers are worried about when
something similar will happen to them, many are asking why Western leaders do
not take serious steps to end this hatred and prejudice against Muslims.
Remember, in common parlance,
"Islamophobia" means hatred, prejudice or intimidation against the
religion of Islam or Muslims based on their beliefs.
