Pakistani-born family killed in Canada: 'How can you say Islamophobia is not real'
Reacting to the killing of four members of a Pakistani-born Muslim family in the Canadian province of Ontario, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the fact is that most Canadians are aware of this fear. There are no Canadian Muslims who feel threatened by racism.
In his speech to the House of Commons, Justin
Trudeau said, "If anyone thinks racism and hatred do not exist in this
country (Canada), I want to tell them that you have seen a child in a hospital
with such a violent incident." How would you explain? How can you look at
these families and say that Islamophobia is not a reality?
In a London incident in Ontario on Sunday
evening, a 20-year-old local man drove his car over the family as they were
walking outside their home.
Only one nine-year-old child of the family
survived the incident and was admitted to the hospital, while the dead included
46-year-old physiotherapist Salman Afzal, his wife and PhD student Madiha
Salman, 44, a ninth-grade student. Salman,15, and his 74-year-old frail
grandmother.
